INQ x TREBEK
Welcome to the INQ and Trebek Initiative meeting space, where students and researchers can learn more about our program, access application resources and sign-up for grant writing workshops and support.
What is the Trebek Initiative?
The Trebek Initiative is a joint venture between the National Geographic Society and the Royal Canadian Geographical Society (RCGS) supporting researchers, scientists, photographers, documentarians, educators and conservationists whose projects aim to preserve Canadian and Indigenous land, wildlife, water, culture and history.
Trebek Grantees receive access to funding, mentorship and networking opportunities, opportunities to present their work for national and global audiences, as well as amplification support.
When is the next application deadline?
The application deadline is Thursday, October 23rd at 11:59 PM ET.
What’s the application process like?
Reviewing application templates helps grant writers better understand how to structure their submission. We invite you to review application templates linked here: research, storytelling, education, conservation and innovation.
What types of projects does the Trebek Initiative fund?

How much can I apply for?
The Trebek Initiative funds projects up to a maximum of $100K CAD. Since the National Geographic Society oversees our review process and they’re based in the United States of America, we ask that you submit your budget in USD and ensure it doesn’t exceed $75K USD.
While we understand that you may need to cobble together funding from a few sources, we ask that you clearly state what components you are proposing that the Trebek Initiative fund.
